Major decisions by the Madhya Pradesh Cabinet: Development package worth ₹10,800 crore approved.

Bhopal, July 14, 2026. Several significant decisions regarding the state's development and public welfare were taken during the Council of Ministers (Cabinet) meeting held on Tuesday at the Mantralaya, chaired by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav. Approving development proposals worth over ₹10,800 crore, the Cabinet took crucial steps to strengthen urban infrastructure, irrigation, farmers' interests, nutrition schemes, and administrative systems.

The most significant decision of the meeting was the approval of ₹8,445 crore for the development of urban areas. Additionally, the Cabinet ratified key decisions such as providing a government guarantee worth ₹1,587 crore for *moong* (green gram) procurement, extending the Kundalia Major Irrigation Project until 2031, and handing over the 'Take-Home Ration' system to the Women and Child Development Department.

**New Lease of Life for Kundalia Irrigation Project**

The Cabinet approved ₹245.45 crore to continue the operation of the Kundalia Major Irrigation Project in Rajgarh district through the tenure of the 16th Central Finance Commission (April 1, 2026, to March 31, 2031).

This project will develop irrigation capacity across 139,600 hectares in the Rajgarh and Agar-Malwa districts using a micro-irrigation system. The government believes this will boost agricultural production and provide long-term benefits to farmers.

**Major Relief for Farmers Regarding *Moong* Procurement**

The Cabinet decided to provide a government guarantee worth ₹1,587 crore to facilitate payments for *moong* procured in excess of the target under the Government of India's Price Support Scheme during the Rabi marketing year 2024-25.

Under this decision:

A guarantee of ₹396 crore will be provided for a six-month period against the credit limit of Punjab National Bank.
A guarantee of ₹1,191 crore will be provided for a one-year period against the credit limit of the State Bank of India.

This decision will help ensure timely payments to the farmers. **Take-Home Ration System Now Under the Department of Women and Child Development**

The Cabinet has decided to transfer the responsibility for the production and distribution of Take-Home Ration (THR) from the Madhya Pradesh State Livelihood Forum to the Department of Women and Child Development.

Under an interim arrangement, supplementary nutritional food will be provided through Self-Help Groups. Additionally, the THR system will be managed via a short-term tendering process until the Government of India's new guidelines come into effect.

**Government's Major Investment in Urban Development**

The Cabinet has approved ₹8,445 crore for the expansion and development of basic amenities in the state's urban areas.

This fund will be made available to Municipal Corporations, Municipalities, and Nagar Parishads. It will be utilized for the construction and development of various infrastructure projects—including roads, water supply, sewerage, drainage, and lighting systems—as well as for the repayment of loans taken for such development works.

The Cabinet also sanctioned ₹521.04 crore for the operational and administrative requirements of the Commercial Tax Department offices, aiming to make departmental functions more effective and organized.
