Real-time screening of children using DSS technology to be conducted for the first time; special campaign kicks off with Vitamin A dosage administration
Morena, July 14, 2026. The 'Dastak' mega campaign was launched on Tuesday at the District Hospital, Morena, with the aim of protecting children up to five years of age from malnutrition, anemia, and other serious illnesses. Senior officials from the Health Department, including Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Dr. Padmesh Upadhyay, inaugurated the campaign by lighting a ceremonial lamp. The campaign formally commenced with the administration of Vitamin A doses to children.
Civil Surgeon and Chief Hospital Superintendent Dr. Gajendra Singh Tomar, District Immunization Officer Dr. Ajay Goyal, Technical Advisor and Divisional Coordinator for 'Evidence Action' Rishikant Pandey, Immunization In-charge Smt. Munni Rajawat, and field staff from the Health Department were present at the event.
The objective of the campaign is to identify malnutrition, severe anemia, and other serious ailments in children up to five years of age at an early stage and provide them with prompt treatment. To achieve this, Health Department teams will conduct door-to-door health check-ups, and children in need will be immediately linked to medical services.
**Door-to-Door Health Check-ups for Children**
CMHO Dr. Padmesh Upadhyay stated that the 'Dastak' campaign is a significant initiative towards ensuring better health and a secure future for the district's children. He explained that Health Department teams would visit every village and settlement to assess the children's health status, identify those affected by malnutrition and serious illnesses, and ensure timely treatment.
He emphasized that delivering quality healthcare services to the last person in the district and providing prompt treatment to critically ill children remain the department's top priorities.
**Vitamin A to Boost Immunity**
District Immunization Officer Dr. Ajay Goyal stated that during the campaign, children aged 9 months to 5 years are being administered Vitamin A doses. This plays a crucial role in maintaining good eyesight and boosting the children's immunity. He placed special emphasis on ensuring 100% vaccination and Vitamin A coverage.
**Real-time monitoring using DSS technology for the first time**
The standout feature of this year's 'Dastak' campaign is the use of Decision Support System (DSS) technology. Rishikant Pandey, Technical Advisor and Divisional Coordinator at Evidence Action, stated that for the first time, this digital technology will enable real-time monitoring of the health check-up, screening, and referral processes for every child.
With the help of the DSS system, children suffering from Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) and those who are critically ill can be identified more accurately and rapidly. Such children will be promptly referred to Nutritional Rehabilitation Centers (NRCs) or higher medical institutions to ensure timely treatment.
**Key features of the campaign**
Door-to-door screening for malnutrition, anemia, and serious illnesses among children up to five years of age.
Administration of Vitamin A doses to children aged 9 months to 5 years.
Real-time screening and tracking using DSS (Decision Support System) technology for the first time.
Rapid identification and referral of children with Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) and those who are critically ill.
Providing health-related counseling to parents and information about government health services.
The Health Department believes that this technology-driven 'Dastak' mega-campaign will not only facilitate the timely detection of malnutrition and anemia in children but also play a crucial role in significantly improving child health indicators in the district by ensuring prompt treatment.
